Packers-Giants  Injury Report About Aaron Jones

Receiver Christian Watson was one of three Green Bay Packers starters who was injured at the beginning of practice on Thursday.

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin: Running back Aaron Jones of the Green Bay Packers, who was worried a few weeks ago that he had suffered a season-ending knee injury, made his way back to practice on Thursday as the club started getting ready on the field for their game against the New York Giants on Monday night.

Following a sprained MCL against the Chargers, Jones missed the subsequent two games, crucial wins over the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs. He hasn’t practiced since his injury.

While reporters were present, he took his full complement of individual reps, including handoffs, footwork drills and pass protection.

“He was limited,” is all coach Matt LaFleur said when asked about Jones’ workload.

After surpassing 1,050 rushing yards in three of the last four seasons and 1,150 scrimmage yards in four consecutive seasons, hamstring and knee injuries have limited Jones to 245 rushing yards and 169 receiving yards in seven games this season.

Three starters weren’t on the field for the start of Thursday’s practice.

One was predictable: Christian Watson, a receiver, hurt his hamstring in the last seconds of the Chiefs game. Watson, who has scored touchdowns in three straight games and is coming off performances of five receptions for 94 yards against Detroit and seven grabs for 71 yards and two touchdowns against the Chiefs, is a victim of an awful accident.

Watson had participated in all nine games of the season after missing the first three due to a hamstring ailment.

“I can’t really declare that one way or the other,” LaFleur said when asked if this injury was more or less significant than the first. “Hopefully,” he added, Watson will be back “sooner rather than later.”

Linebacker Quay Walker and safety Darnell Savage stayed inside the Don Hutson Center for the start of practice, as well.

Against the Chiefs, Walker recorded a game-high 13 tackles—his fourth game of the season with ten or more tackles.

Savage had four tackles and one pass defensed in his first game back in the starting lineup following a five-game absence due to a calf injury.

Jaire Alexander, the cornerback, did practice, for what that’s worth. Despite training as a limited participant all week, he has missed the last four games due to a shoulder injury, including Sunday night’s game against the Chiefs.

As soon as the complete Green Bay injury report is made public, this story will be updated.
