As the January transfer window draws near, Nottingham Forest is reportedly keeping an eye on Yuri Alberto, a
striker for Corinthians.
In an effort to bolster their striking depth, the Reds examined a number of possible forward targets throughout the
summer. Chris Wood’s performance thus far this season has allayed any worries regarding depth in that part of the
field, even though they were unable to close a transaction.
Nonetheless, it is probable that Forest will consider addressing this position in the future. Additionally, the team is
interested in Alberto, a Brazil international, according to TBR Football.
The 23-year-old may be available on loan, and they are not the only Premier League team rumored to be interested
in him. Brentford, Newcastle United, Everton, and West Ham United are reportedly also interested.
Alberto had previously been on the verge of signing a contract to join the Premier League. According to reports,
Southampton “walked away” from him, while Wolverhampton Wanderers had him on their wanted list in January.
With four goals in his last three league games, Alberto has been playing well for Corinthians. After rising through the
ranks at Santos, a Brazilian team, he later played for Zenit Saint Petersburg and Internacional. Following a loan stint
at the club, he joined Corinthians in January 2023.
TBR quotes the frontman as stating, “There was a time where I really wanted (to leave),” in response to
Southampton’s summer interest. Here, however, we had an internal discussion. I sincerely appreciate the president’s
and everyone else’s support.
Because of everyone’s faith in me, I stayed. That is crucial. When you are going through a tough situation, you often
let your guard down a bit, but these people made me feel good.
Wood’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, therefore Forest is in negotiations to sign
him to a new one. Taiwo Awoniyi is another player that head coach Nuno Espirito Santo can call upon; the Nigerian
is keen to move past his recent injury issues.
Brazilians Danilo, Murillo, Carlos Miguel, and Morato are already members of the Reds. Both defender Murillo and
goalkeeper Miguel joined the team from Corinthians, and while the former has only made one appearance thus far,
his teammate has impressed in the Garibaldi during the past 12 months after completing a £11 million transfer.
