DOWNE TOWNSHIP — The New Jersey Forest Fire Service is still working to put out a blaze along Railroad Avenue in the township on Friday.
According to a Facebook post from the state forest fire agency, the fire had spread to about 100 acres as of last night.
The blaze is expected to be limited to around 140 acres, according to the forest service. To help control the fire, the Forest Fire Service is employing a backfire to burn fuel ahead of the main body.
The Forest Fire Service responded with fire engines, bulldozers, and ground staff.
Railroad Avenue is closed between Dividing Creek and Ackley Roads.
The Forest Fire Service is anticipated to provide an update on the fire at around 10:30 a.m.
