Pole position: Aston Villa and NSWE set to bid hard for £150,000-a-year midfielder in January.
According to a recent report, Aston Villa is one of the Premier League teams interested in acquiring a La Liga star who can command £150,000 annually. The Midlands team had a busy summer as Unai Emery assembled a team that could compete in Europe and at home, but they are already looking to recruit players in the coming year.
News about transfers at Aston Villa
NSWE, Monchi, and his Villa recruitment team appear to be making preparations for what may be a busy January, even though the January transfer window is still a ways off. In an attempt to make a move in 2025, Monchi has reportedly dispatched scouts from Villa to observe teenage French defender Nathan Zeze.
However, Villa is also interested in signing Alex Baena as they consider the possibility of bolstering their defense. Emery may be pressuring Villa to bring the Villarreal winger to England because he already knows him from their time together at the Spanish team. But, given that Newcastle United is a rival and Villarreal will not allow him to leave cheaply due to his £50 million release clause, it is not seen to be an easy deal to finalize.
The Villans are also in the lead to recruit Kevin Zenon from Boca Juniors, as the Midlands team, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle have all been impressed by his exploits in Argentina. However, Villa and Emery’s transfer rumors don’t end there. They are also attempting to sign a 21-year-old Spanish player.
Aston Villa set to bid hard for £150k-a-year ace in January
Sport Witness reported from Spain that Aston Villa is interested in signing Christantus Uche from Getafe. The offensive midfielder joined the La Liga team in July, and Villa, Newcastle, and AFC Bournemouth have already taken notice of his performances.
Uche began his career at Campos FA in Nigeria, earning €180,000 (about £150,000) year, until being acquired by Moralo B in 2022. The 21-year-old played 36 games for them in all competitions before joining AD Ceuta in July 2023.
The midfield player, who has occasionally been used as a striker this season, is reportedly in “pole position” to be signed by Villa, Newcastle, and Bournemouth. Getafe has the option to extend Uche’s contract by a another 12 months, with the current deal expiring in the summer of 2028.

However, considering the Premier League’s interest, his time at the La Liga team appears to be coming to an end, even if he still has four years left on his contract. Additionally, it states that in order to bolster their roster during the winter transfer window, Villa and these other English sides will be “bidding hard” for Uche in January.
