Sky Sports pundit names ‘really impressive’ Sheffield Wednesday man as his MOTM vs Brentford.
After Sheffield Wednesday’s hard-fought Carabao Cup defeat to Brentford, Sky Sports analyst Curtis Davies heaped praise on one of their players.
Sheffield Wednesday performed admirably against Brentford on Tuesday night, leading to a penalty shootout victory.
After dominating the first half and leading 1-0 at halftime, it appeared that the Bees would cruise to victory.
But Djeidi Gassama scored from range unexpectedly, giving the Owls new life at the Brentford Community Stadium.
Wednesday may have even picked up a victory for themselves. However, the game went to penalties, and Liam Palmer was unfortunate enough to miss the tenth one.
Danny Rohl’s sid delivered some remarkable performances. Pierce Charles, Owls youth goalkeeper, stood out on the night.
Curtis Davies was impressed by Sheffield Wednesday’s Pierce Charles at Brentford.
Although Sheffield Wednesday supporters have only watched Charles play a few times in cup games, we’ve seen enough to believe he has a bright future.
To be able to make the saves he makes and distribute the ball so well at such a young age is a testament to his abilities.
He fits in well with Sheffield Wednesday’s style of play and never seemed out of place against a quality Brentford side.
Last month, Owls skipper Barry Bannan praised Charles, stating, “He’s got the world at his feet.”
“It’s just about him keep working hard and progressing, and I’m sure he’ll have a bright future.”
With James Beadle’s loan expiring at the end of the season, Rohl believes Charles should be ready for regular Championship games by next season.
A loan departure in January could be excellent. Even if Beadle is recalled in January or departs for whatever reason, Charles’ arrival shortly might be extremely advantageous heading into next season, when he could be the Owls’ number one.
