Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Hugo Bueno has been on loan at Feyenoord since the summer window.

The left-back assisted on his debut against PEC Zwolle in August. He then spent over a month on the sidelines due to a muscle injury. Last month, Bueno said he feels “100% fit” and since then, he’s made four appearances for the Eredivisie side.

According to 1908.nl. there were concerns over the Wolves owned player’s availability to face Benfica in the Champions League later today.

Feyenoord manager Brian Priske has included both the 22-year-old and defender Gernot Trauner in the travelling squad to Portugal. In his pre-match press conference, the coach stated the Wolves man has been working on making a full recovery from a foot injury.

When Priske was asked about Bueno and Trauner’s involvement against the Portuguese club, he said: “They are both here to play. Trauner is here to play, he’s fit enough to start in the starting XI.

“The same goes for Hugo Bueno, he’s also training today and then we will see how his foot responds to the training. He’s been busy with his recovery in recent days and hasn’t been on the field at the time. We paid a lot of attention to his foot.”

Therefore, 1908.nl state the Spaniard and Trauner are in contention for the midweek European tie against Benfica. This would suggest the Wolves defender’s fitness issue isn’t a serious one.

Gary O’Neil has favoured Rayan Aït-Nouri for the left-back slot at Molineux. This convinced Bueno to join the Dutch club on loan, to feature regularly this season. He’ll have to keep himself fit to achieve this.
