HELP Appeal grant a big boost to air ambulance fundraiser

In just six weeks, the total money received for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance’s relocation appeal has risen to £800,000 thanks to a contribution of £300,000 from another charity.

Operation Airbase, which aims to move the life-saving organisation’s airbase and charity headquarters to a location close to Southampton Airport, received a big boost from the HELP Appeal, the only charity in the nation committed to providing hospital and air ambulance base helipads.

The organisation that runs air ambulances is now one step closer to reaching its £3.6 million goal and is expected to move into its specially constructed home by 2026.

In addition to using its reserves to purchase the property, HIOWAA will require an additional £2.8 million to equip and transform the site into a hangar and office, complete with hangar doors and a helipad.

The existing airbase, which is located on the northwest border of Hampshire, is somewhat far from the southern destinations of Portsmouth, Winchester, Southampton, and the Isle of Wight, which account for about 70% of call-outs.
