Leeds United urged to arrange midfielder deal as soon as possible

David Norris believes Leeds United must sign a new midfielder as soon as possible.

Leeds looked set to sign Premier League veteran Cheikhou Kouyate, but the 34-year-old failed a physical, and the club decided not to take the risk [talkSPORT].

Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell are Daniel Farke’s only senior central midfield options until at least January, assuming they do not take advantage of the free-agent market.

“I’ve seen and been in situations where the club will disregard the medical when they really want to get a player over the line,” Norris told MOT Leeds News.

“It’s evident that this may be serious, which is why they’ve pulled out of the transaction.

“They’re still massively short in that area so they need to bring people in.”
