Daniel Farke speaks out on Patrick Bamford at Leeds United

Daniel Farke feels Leeds United would be in the Premier League now if Patrick Bamford had been completely fit at the end of last season.

Bamford has had a difficult few seasons due to injuries, and he has only recently returned to the first-team squad following his most recent absence.

In his pre-Watford press conference on October 21, Farke praised the England international despite his slip down the pecking order.

“For me, he doesn’t have anything to prove anymore,” he told me.

“He’s a top-class player, and I’m confident that if Patrick Bamford were totally fit, we’d be playing in the Premier League right now.

“We missed him in the run-in a lot and he was our go-to guy.”

Will Patrick Bamford lead Leeds United back to the Premier League?

The Whites barely lost out on promotion last season, falling to Southampton in the Championship play-off final.

Leeds were one of the league’s most dominant sides last season, but they fell short by losing too many games in the final weeks.

The 2024/25 season has been no exception; the team is one of the favourites to get promoted this season and has lived up to expectations thus far.

Farke’s side are presently third in the rankings, just three points behind league leaders Sunderland.

Signings such as Joe Rodon and Largie Ramazani have helped the club recover from previous disappointments, while Mateo Joseph has also stepped up.

Bamford came in as a substitute in the 2-0 victory over Sheffield United on October 18, with midfield injuries now the main concern as Joe Rothwell shone against the Blades.

It will be interesting to see how Farke handles his team, but it is evident that Bamford will still play a role between now and the end of the season.
