Birmingham City’s closest League One promotion rivals suffer broken leg blow

The Welsh team has lost one of their important players for an extended period of time, which has dealt a serious blow to Wrexham’s hopes of winning their promotion race with Birmingham City. Blues have also been plagued by injury, with Scott Wright and Jay Stansfield being added to the list of players out for Saturday’s trip to Lincoln City.

Jack Marriott, the striker, will be sidelined for several months due to a broken leg, according to manager Phil Parkinson. Parkinson told BBC Sport Wales, “We had such a low day at the training ground on Thursday.”

Blues supporters are likely aware of Marriott’s attacking ability because, in their matchup with the Derby man last month at St Andrew’s, the former player gave the visitors an early lead. Although Chris Davies’ team was able to bounce back from the poacher’s finish, the 30-year-old’s season has now been cut short after just five goals in 12 games.

Paul Mullin scored the game’s opening goal in the first minute of Wrexham’s 1-0 victory over Rotherham, indicating that the team wasn’t particularly harmed by the change in starting lineup. It was the lucky Mullin’s first League One start in a month.

Regarding the Blues, Davies thinks that Stansfield and Wright’s injuries are only temporary. Emil Hansson was substituted during the 3-1 victory at Sincil Bank, while both Kyle Buchanan and Kristian Bielik are still out.
