Norwich City’s January transfer shortlist: Wolves player and ex-QPR man should be among those on it

Norwich City faced some high-profile departures during their unusually busy summer transfer window as new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup reorganised the team.

Those who moved on included Adam Idah, Jon Rowe, Abu Kamara, Gabriel Sara, and others. Several of the transactions were made in public, and some of the parties involved were eager to get off Carrow Road.

It was, therefore, a busy time, and the chaos certainly contributed to the Canaries’ sluggish start to the season. But now that they’ve made significant progress, the club will aspire for promotion.

Norwich City’s January plans

The promotion battle is always decided in the January window, and this campaign will be no exception, therefore the Norwich recruitment team will already be looking forward to the New Year.

The club hasn’t been known for its extravagant spending, but after the summer sales, they should have money to spend. If they think Thorup could get promoted, they might try to support him.

In light of this, we examine THREE players who Norwich should be keeping an eye on.

Bright Osayi-Samuel

Bright Osayi-Samuel

It has been reported that Norwich is interested in Osayi-Samuel, and if a deal can be reached, they should definitely look to pursue it.

With Fenerbahçe, the former QPR winger has transformed into an aggressive full-back, and during the past several years, he has shown great potential for the Istanbul giants.

With his quick pace and straightforward approach, he would provide a new dynamic to Norwich’s lineup. His versatility as a right-back or down the flank would also be greatly appreciated.

Quality over quantity is the focus of the January window, and Osayi-Samuel would undoubtedly enhance the team.

Luke Cundle

Kenny McLean and Marcelino Nunez are crucial to Norwich’s success, as the team seems to have a nice balance in the midfield.

On the other hand, Cundle could help allay worries about the lack of depth in the midfield.

With lots of Championship experience at Stoke and Plymouth, the Wolves man should be able to fit in fast despite being well down the Molineux hierarchy. He will be free to depart in January.

This is where Cundle shines for Thorup’s team—keeping the ball in his hands. In addition, his versatility would be useful in the tough final few months of the season since he can play behind a striker or in a deep midfield role.

Mathias Kvistgaarden

Having come to the club from Nordsjaelland, Thorup has coaching experience in Denmark and is well-versed in the top division in his native country.

Norwich may have a transfer advantage because of that, and the manager has already used that information to bring in Oscar Schwartau.

Brondby’s Kvistgaarden is one player in the Superliga who is having a significant impact.

In his 11 games, the forward has six goals and four assists, and he plays excellent all around.

It would be difficult to complete this trade given that the Danish U21 international has already been connected to Celtic; nevertheless, if Norwich is in the running for promotion, Kvistgaarden might view it as his opportunity to play in the Premier League.
