Ange, Celtic and ‘SPL’ targeted during infuriating rant as snidey shock jock is 11 years out of date.

Former Liverpool player Jermaine Pennant thinks he doesn’t believe Postecoglou’s unwavering conviction in himself. Unbowed Ange A scathing pundit has used Postecoglou’s booming Tottenham prediction against him, citing an 11-year-old league that no longer exists. Former Liverpool great Jermaine Pennant thinks he does not believe Postecoglou’s staunch optimism that Tottenham will win trophies for the first time in 16 years, following a chastening experience on the South Coast. The former Celtic manager was furious following Spurs’ defeat against Brighton before the international break. The Australian was left ashen-faced as his team went from brilliant to awful on their way to a shocking 3-2 defeat.

Pennant, known for his strong convictions, believes Postecoglou’s CV is cause for caution when considering his huge opinions. Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “Every second season, he wins something, so he can claim that. But he needs to comprehend that he is now in the Premier League. It is not the SPL. This is not the Australian A-League. It is the Premier League. To win here, you must be a good manager and lead a good team. But, as I already stated, he has done it. “So he can say that.”

The Scottish Premiership has not been referred to as the ‘SPL’ in 13 seasons, and while many believe this was an error in branding, it is an out-of-date moniker that undersells Postecoglou’s achievements during his two trophy-laden years in Glasgow. Postecoglou has lamented Spurs’ inability to win against Leicester, Newcastle, and Brighton – three games in which his team has dominated; nonetheless, the 59-year-old believes the advantages in possession and shots will lead to long-term success.

Meanwhile, former Spurs star Aaron Lennon hopes Postecoglou would rock Spurs’ world with cutlery, but he is dubious whether this will happen. He said, “I’m not so sure. Don’t get me wrong, I adore Ange and the way they play. But I also believe that there are occasions in games when there are too many forward players on the pitch. You’ve got your full backs bombing on as well, and I believe you’re just left exposed.”
