A football player from Ipswich Town can become the first member of her squad to be selected for a senior national team.

Natasha Thomas, a striker, has been called up to the Jamaican women’s senior team, also known as the “Regga Girlz”.

The forward, 28, qualified for the squad since her grandparents were from Jamaica.

According to Thomas, who wears her grandparents’ image on her shin pads, “They would be proud looking down on me.”

The Philippines squad has called up town keeper Nina Meollo in the past, but she hasn’t played a game for them. She is presently on loan with AFC Sudbury.

“I’m confident it will when I take the airplane to the camp to play.

“When I was little, I would often dream about it. It is a common belief that dreams cannot come true if they are not dreamed.

“It has all just come at the right time for me and myself and my family.”

She stated: “Of course I’m nervous, but at the same time, it is a massive opportunity for me and I can’t wait to grab it with both hands.”

On October 25, Jamaica will play a friendly match against the world-famous French team. Thomas will depart from

the Tractor Girls League Cup match on Sunday, following the match against Hashtag United.

Thomas had a unique path to become a professional football player. He started at the grassroots level at Waveney at

the age of nine and eventually joined Lowestoft Town.

The striker was been named the club’s all-time record holder for appearances.

Following a 0-0 draw against Watford, she marked 217 appearances after joining Town from Lowestoft in November 2015.

She was just given an anniversary uniform by the club to commemorate the occasion.

Among the highlights were her FA Cup runs against West Ham and Manchester City, as well as her goal at Portman

Road.

Thomas has since boosted her appearances to 218 following Sunday’s game against Plymouth. Kieran McKenna, the

men’s squad manager at Ipswich Town, told BBC Radio Suffolk Sport that the entire team was “proud” of Thomas’

accomplishments.

“Any interactions I’ve had with her around the club or the work she does with the foundation, she’s a fantastic role

model on and off the pitch,” he stated.

Thomas reported that since joining the club, the women’s section has significantly expanded.

“I’ve been here for quite some time and have witnessed the development within the players, coaches, and behind the

scenes,” the woman continued. even the number of followers we currently have.

“Inspiring the next generation in Suffolk and Ipswich and contributing to the advancement of the women’s game is

one of my objectives.

“I’m still striving to grow as a player and pushing myself. I simply hope I can continue doing that here in Ipswich

Town and see where it leads.”
