After suffering an injury while playing for England’s under-21 team on international duty, Jay Stansfield will not be able to go to Lincoln with Birmingham City.

After suffering an injury during a training session, the club’s record-breaking acquisition was unable to play in England’s victories over Azerbaijan and Ukraine. At Lincoln, Chris Davies doesn’t think Stansfield will be the Blues’ front-runner.

The Blues manager told BirminghamLive, “He got a knock for England under-21s and he’s unlikely to play this weekend.””We’ll see how he does day by day, but he probably won’t play this weekend because it’s something he picked up while on international duty.”

With more crucial League One games coming up, Davies will be hoping Stansfield’s problem is a small one. The Blues host Bolton Wanderers on Saturday after playing fifth-place Lincoln at Sincil Bank. The following weekend, they travel to third-place Mansfield Town.

Due to injuries, the Blues have already lost a few players, including captain Kristian Bielik. The Polish defender is still receiving treatment after suffering an ankle injury during Blues’ loss to Charlton two weeks ago.

Both Luke Harris and Ethan Laird are improving in their recuperations, but neither is anticipated to play at Lincoln. In contrast, Tomoki Iwata has recovered from the injury that resulted in his substitution during halftime of the Blues’ victory over Shrewsbury Town in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy last week.
