20 y/o Leeds gem who Farke used in pre-season may exit Elland Road on loan

Before the weekend, Leeds United may permit an impressive young player to go on loan from Elland Road, per a recent update.

Leeds transfer rumours

The Whites can still sign free agents and use the loan market for non-league clubs even though the transfer market won’t officially reopen until January.

After major injuries to midfielders Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu, Daniel Farke and the 49ers Enterprises may choose to enter the free agent market, leaving just senior midfield alternatives in Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell. Due to Max Wober’s injury, Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk are the only fit defenders in the back. As a result, Leeds has been connected to Cheikhou Kouyate.

In response to a question regarding Leeds signing Kouyate, Farke declined to confirm the player’s identity but expressed optimism that the team will find “a good solution in the upcoming days or weeks.” Rumors have suggested that a deal has been on and off recently.

“I discussed the circumstances. I never verify names, and I will not discuss athletes that do not have a contract with us. I just talk about the players here.

“We’re investigating the free agency market in more detail. We also lack depth at center defense since Joe Rodon has received four yellow cards.

“I can’t name them, but we have a few ideas and are cautiously optimistic we’ll be able to bring in a good solution in the coming days or weeks.”

Leeds youngster Luca Thomas could join York City

Young forward Luca Thomas may be leaving Leeds in the next few days. York City, a National League team, is hoping to recruit the Whites star on loan.

The 20-year-old has eight goals this season for Leeds’ youth teams, and during preseason, he even made an appearance for Farke’s senior team.

In his remarks on Thomas and his transfer from Leeds, York City manager Adam Hinshelwood disclosed that the 49ers Group will hold in-person negotiations regarding a deal on Thursday.

“We’ve been able to keep an eye on him since Leeds allowed him to train with us for the past several days. After being impressed by what we’ve seen, we will communicate with Tony [McMahon, Director of Football] and Leeds to determine the best course of action.

“What we’ve seen from him has really encouraged us, and we’re hoping we can make some progress there. We are hopeful; after a few days, he seems pleased with what we have seen. Tomorrow, Thursday, we will meet with Tony and discuss our options with Leeds.

If Thomas signs with York on loan, his progress will be interesting to follow as some have even suggested that he may emerge as Leeds’ next Crysencio Summerville.
