Peterborough United will be facing a ‘very different’ Wycombe Wanderers team this weekend

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson reckons his side will be facing a ‘very different’ Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park on Saturday.

According to Ferguson, ‘The Chairboys’ have matured into a neat-passing, attractive, and very good side under current manager Matt Bloomfield, and he expects a tough but entertaining match against in-form opponents.
Wycombe are unbeaten in their previous six League One fixtures, with four victories. They are fifth, although Posh would overtake them if they broke their Adams Park curse and won three points. Posh were thrashed 5-2 in this encounter last season, their ninth defeat in 14 Football League visits to Wycombe, with only one win coming 23 years ago.

Posh won the last match between the clubs, 2-1 at Wembley Stadium in April for the Bristol Street Motors Trophy final.

“Wycombe away is always a tough game for us and they look a very good side this season,” Ferguson told the crowd. “They’ve begun well, which does not surprise me at all. They have recruited well and are particularly strong in midfield, with three standout players in Aaron Morley, Josh Scowen, and Cameron Humphreys.
“Their playing style has also changed recently. They play out of the back and do it brilliantly. They’ve been in League One for several years and understand what it’s all about. I am looking forward to the game. It will be difficult, but it should be a good game between two strong teams.”

Ferguson is tempted to field the same team that drew 3-3 with Rotherham United last weekend, which the manager praised as ‘the best of the season.’ Midfielder Archie Collins and right-back Sam Curtis are available after missing the Rotherham encounter due to suspension and an international call-up, respectively.
