Aberdeen stars reveal their famous Instagram followers as ex Celtic favourite and Champions League winners name-dropped

The Dons squad were asked to name their most famous follower on the mega social media platform

With Jimmy Thelin’s 13-game winning streak since taking over at Pittodrie, Aberdeen is currently riding high. The Dons are the only team in Europe’s top 50 countries to have lost all of their games this season in all competitions.

When he leads his team to Glasgow on Saturday to take on Premiership winners Celtic, the Swede will be up against his toughest test as manager thus far. Even while the former Elfsborg manager is still completely focused on the task at hand, a strong sense of teamwork is emerging in Granite City.

Following their call-up to the Scotland national team, players Jamie McGrath and Dante Polvara took a playful approach to the question, identifying teammate Jack Mackenzie as their most well-known follower. However, other members of the squad were more than happy to list some well-known figures who are among their followers on the social media network.

Croatian midfielder Ante Palaversa – who joined Aberdeen from Ligue 2 club Troyes in the summer, named ex Celtic star and current Union Berlin full back Josip Juranovic as his star follower. The duo played together at Hajduk Split between 2017 and 2019 before midfielder Palaversa won a £7million move to Premier League giants Manchester City.

Winger Vicente Besuijen named Justin Kluivert, a current Bournemouth player and former teammate on the Netherlands youth international team, as his most well-known fan, while centre back Angus MacDonald disclosed that former Premier League and England defender Michael Dawson, with whom he briefly played at Hull City, is his biggest fan. Another defender, Gavin Molloy, had a good shout as well. The Irishman revealed that Brighton and Republic of Ireland striker Evan Ferguson is following him.

Leighton Clarkson and Duk, two teammates with the Dons, went one step further and mentioned two Champions League winners as their most well-known followers. A former Liverpool player, Clarkson took pride in the fact that Anfield great Trent Alexander-Arnold follows him on Instagram. Duk, on the other hand, chose Chelsea forward Joao Felix, who began his second stint at the Stamford Bridge club earlier this season.
