Wolves next 10 Premier League fixtures difficulty ranked compared to early relegation candidates

When the Premier League resumes following the international break, Wolves will be in dire need of improving their performance.

Having lost their first seven league games, Gary O’Neil’s team has had a terrible start to the 2024–25 season.

In actuality, Wolves have been winless in the top division since April, going more than five months without a triumph.

The team hasn’t been able to assemble a completely convincing 90 minutes of football yet, and their demanding schedule to begin the season hasn’t helped matters.

Wolves next 10 Premier League fixtures

Six of the top seven teams from the previous season have already faced Wolves in their first seven games, and they have all lost.

Thankfully, O’Neil will get some relief from the big matchups, according to the Premier League’s Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR) algorithm.

Based on a difficulty rating system, the next ten games that the league’s clubs play was assessed, and Wolves was ranked second having some of the “easiest” games ahead of them.

Opponent Home/Away Difficulty rating
Manchester City H 5
Brighton and Hove Albion A 2
Crystal Palace H 2
Southampton H 2
Fulham A 3
Bournemouth H 2
Everton A 3
West Ham United A 2
Ipswich Town H 2
Leicester City A 2

Following their match at Molineux against Manchester City, Wolves have a run of easy games ahead of them, which should be easier to handle than playing teams that finished at the top of the table the previous season.

Compared to Liverpool, who lead the league with 3.3 fixture difficulties per game, Wolves has the second-lowest average in the league with 2.5.

O’Neil’s team needs to find a way to get back on track before Christmas in order to maybe avoid a relegation struggle come the new year.

Premier League early relegation candidates’ fixture difficulty

The only goal for Wolves is to win their next ten games, and while O’Neil will be using a tunnel vision strategy, it’s important to take into account external events as well.

Leicester City, Everton, Ipswich Town, Crystal Palace, Southampton, and of course, Wolves are the current Premier League bottom six.

The next 10 fixtures of the Old Gold’s early relegation rivals are compared to those against O’Neil’s team to give you an idea of how the bottom five might seem by Christmas.

Club Difficulty rating Notable fixtures
Leicester City 2.4 NEW (A), MUN (A), CHE (H)
Everton 2.7 CHE (H), MUN (A), ARS (A), LIV (H)
Ipswich Town 2.4 TOT (A), MUN (H), NEW (H)
Crystal Palace 3.0 TOT (H), AV (A), NEW (H), MC (H), ARS (H)
Southampton 3.0 MC (A), LFC (H), TOT (H), AV (A), CHE (H)

Ipswich and Leicester are said to have the joint-easiest next ten top division matchups, while Crystal Palace and Southampton—who, like Wolves, are winless after seven games—have the fourth-hardest.

With an early eye towards how the table might seem in May, the data only serves to highlight how crucial it is for Wolves to pick up as many points as they can from their next ten games.
