It’s No Flare – Uefa hit Celtic with a €20,000 fine and away fan ban threat

And UEFA has fined the team once more, this time for €20,000, for lighting fireworks during the most recent

Champions League encounter between Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal at the Westfalenstadion. Usually, the Celtic

supporters take the fines personally. The club files an appeal, pays the fee, and everyone moves on. Until the next

occasion.

But it seems like UEFA is running out of patience, as they have already sanctioned Celtic once more. Celtic will not be

allowed to sell tickets to away supporters for the upcoming UEFA fixture if this infraction is committed twice

throughout the next two years at a UEFA match.

It certainly looks like the punishments are going to ramp up if Celtic Supporters don’t cut out the pyros and the

smoke. The Scottish FA don’t seem to mind so keep this for Hampden or whatever other domestic game tickles your

fancy but from no on Europe is a no-go for the Flare Bhoys.

After the match versus Borussia Dortmund, the Club was sanctioned once more for the lighting of fireworks by a tiny

number of match attendees. The Club has received the judgement issued by the UEFA Control, Ethics and

Disciplinary Body.

In addition to the €20,000 punishment, the verdict states that the Club will not be allowed to sell tickets to fans for

one away match in UEFA club competitions if the same behaviour occurs at a match during the following two years.

Over a number of years, the Club has made it very clear that using pyrotechnics and explosives at games is not

permitted and poses hazards to the safety of fans as well as the Club in accordance with the relevant legislation.

That a very tiny minority’s actions have resulted in this decision, which may have such a detrimental effect on the

club and Celtic fans who want to go to an away game to support the squad, is really upsetting.
