Celtic fans accused of smoking WEED during Champions League clash as Twente captain kicks up a stink

Danique van Ginkel got on her high horse after catching a whiff of ganja during New Douglas Park encounter

Twente Enschede Women’s captain has accused Celtic fans of smoking WEED during their most recent European meeting.

After Brendan Rodgers’ team began their Champions League campaign with a great win over Slovan Bratislava and a harsh setback to Borussia Dortmund, Elena Sadiku’s side opened theirs with a 20-point home loss to Twente in Hamilton earlier this month. The Hoops are facing a potential travel ban after a pyro show in Dortmund enraged UEFA, who fined them €20,000 and imposed a two-year suspended ban on selling away tickets.

And now those following the women have been chastised for reportedly skinning up in the stands, after Twente skipper Danique van Ginkel became enraged after smelling cannabis wafting onto the ground from the New Douglas Park stands. Although the Dutch team later applauded the atmosphere during their 2-0 victory in front of 2,784 fans, van Ginkel has grassed up the terracing tokers.

She stated, “I have never seen an atmosphere like that – there was so much cheering.” But there was a drawback: the supporters were smoking marijuana. Everyone smelled it. You don’t usually smell that on the pitch. But we could still play football with it; the headache was not too awful.”
The objection does not appear to have been included in the match delegate’s report on the game.
