Melbourne Victory land former Fluminense youngster who is ‘poised to hit his prime’

The Melbourne Victory have signed Brazilian forward Clarismario Santos Rodrigues for the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.

The 23-year-old, also known as Santos, is a graduate of Brazil’s Fluminense academy and joins on a one-year contract from Cypriot top division club AEK Larnaca.

Santos began his professional career in Croatia and then played for three years with Zeljeznicar, a dominant team in Bosnia, following his 2020–21 second-division victory at Rudar Prijedor.

In 29 appearances for AEK Larnaca the previous season, he scored two goals.

Santos declared, “This is an exciting new challenge for me and I cannot wait to get started,” prior to Victory’s October 18 away game against the Central Coast Mariners, the two-time defending champions, in the Round 1 encounter.

“I think the club has created an environment where I can play football to the best of my ability, and I want to perform on the field this season for the team and the fans.”

Head coach Patrick Kisnorbo stated, “We’re thrilled to welcome Santos to Melbourne Victory for the upcoming season.”

His explosive pace and work attitude will promote healthy competition. He is a versatile winger who can play on both sides of the field.

“We think we can get the best out of Santos because he is a team player who is eager to learn and is at a young age where he is expected to reach his peak at Melbourne Victory.”
