Sky Sports Hamza Igamane is Rangers ready now as Vaclav Cerny reveals helping hand in ‘special’ moment.
Igamane stepped up to help sink Nice with a Europa League double and Czech sees no need for the kid gloves treatment.
Philippe Clement has spent the past four months insisting he’s one for the Future.
However, Vaclav Cerny believes Hamza Igamane could be the Rangers’ man at the moment. Six months after moving to Glasgow, the Light Blues’ teenage Moroccan striker made his Ibrox debut on Thursday night with a fantasy double in Nice. Boss Clement has been trying to quell the summer buzz around the 22-year-old’s £1.7 million move from FAR Rabat, claiming the frontman will need time to settle in Scotland.
It definitely appeared that way, as Igamane scored just one goal in his first 11 games in a blue jersey. But the poacher made a significant step forward at the Allianz Rivera, scoring two goals and providing an assist in the 4-1 thrashing of the Ligue 1 club. After his side’s shocking triumph, Clement came into the post-match news conference and repeated his stance that Igamane had “potential for the future to become an important Rangers player”.

However, wideman Cerny will not be surprised if that future begins today. “It was a special night for him, definitely,” said the Czech, who was set up by Igamane for the opening round on the Cote d’Azur. “But it was also quite clear to him what we wanted to do, and you could see his passion, drive, and dedication in the game. Clearly, it was really beneficial to us.
“We simply managed to generate what we created. There weren’t very many throughout the first half. However, after we capitalised on those opportunities in the first half, the game was nearly over. “It was an incredible game for him, but also for the entire team. You could argue that it is necessary not to put too much pressure on him, but it is football, and it is at the highest level.
