Sheffield United’s great home streak continued on Tuesday night, with midfielder Callum O’Hare underlining the significance of unity, fans, and hard effort in their amazing success at Bramall Lane.
Following the Blades’ dominant 3-0 win over Oxford United, O’Hare spoke confidently about the team’s performance and the spirit that has propelled them to the top of the table.
Callum O’Hare’s Reaction After Sheffield United Cruise to Top Spot in 3-0 Win Over Oxford United
Speaking with SUTV, O’Hare quickly attributed the team’s achievement to a combination of factors:
“We have a good team. We have excellent instructors and a top manager. And I believe the supporters motivate us. We couldn’t ask for much more, and it’s clearly working when we play here, so maybe we can keep it up.”
The victory over Oxford represented their sixth consecutive home win without surrendering a goal, demonstrating their superiority on home turf. The explosive atmosphere at Bramall Lane has transformed the stadium into a fortress, with players fueled by the enthusiasm from the supporters.
Despite considerable squad changes during the summer transfer window, O’Hare believes the team has adapted swiftly and formed strong bonds on and off the pitch.
“It’s a relatively new group, with a lot of new faces, and the bond between everyone has formed quickly. And winning always helps. When we play here, it seems like a fortress; it’s wonderful to play here. We simply need to keep it going.”
The 3-0 victory demonstrated United’s overall quality on the field. In the 10th minute, O’Hare scored his first goal for the club, setting the tone for the rest of the evening. Tyrese Campbell extended the advantage just 16 minutes later, rounding the goalie following a superb Gustavo Hamer through ball. Jesurun Rak-Sakyi scored before the hour mark, concluding a great team play including Vinicius Souza and Hamer.
This victory, combined with Sunderland’s goalless draw against West Bromwich Albion, moved Sheffield United to the top of the Championship table, with 35 points.
The Blades now have a fast turnaround as they prepare for a critical encounter with promotion rivals Sunderland on Friday evening.
O’Hare said that the hard schedule might be taxing, but he relishes the opportunity to compete in such high-stakes events. “I can’t wait.” “Top of the table clashes are why you play football,” he shouted. “Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday is bad; Saturday-Tuesday-Friday is even worse. You’re fatigued, but as soon as the game starts, you forget about it and go play football.”
Despite their outstanding six-game unbeaten run (five of which they won), O’Hare believes Sheffield United have yet to fulfill their full potential.
“In house, we believe Sheffield United are the best team in the division. I’m not sure what others think, but we know how good we can be. I think there’s a lot more to come.”
