CALLUM McGREGOR will captain Celtic in the Premier Sports League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen at Hampden tomorrow night.
The Hoops captain has declared that he is “ready to go” after missing the last two league games against Motherwell and Dundee due to an abductor issue.
However, the key midfielder will play in his normal position against the Dons, with the Hoops only 90 minutes away from another spectacular event at the national stadium next month.
Fears among the Parkhead crowd that their inspiring on-field leader would miss out were allayed when McGregor told Celtic TV: “I’m fine. Ready to go.
Calmac is back.Callum McGregor will return for the League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen.
“It’s been a quiet week, but I’m feeling great and ready to get back out there.
“Sitting it out is not something I’m accustomed to. Sitting on the sidelines, kicking every ball, eager to get back out there.
“But I’m good and ready to go.”
Luke McCowan took advantage of McGregor’s absence to start against Well and the Dens Parkers, but the dynamic middle-of-the-park performer is not eligible for tomorrow’s game.
The £1 million bargain buy on deadline day is Cup-tied, having previously played in the tournament for Dundee this season.
Brendan Rodgers has three options for partnering McGregor in the team’s engine room: Arne Engels, Reo Hatate, and Paulo Bernardo.
