Rangers struggle to sell out Hampden semi-final as tickets still available for Motherwell clash.
Gers fans are dissatisfied with Philippe Clement’s side’s performance this season.

Rangers fans are undoubtedly weary of seeing Hampden after being forced to leave their Ibrox home at the beginning of the season. But it’s difficult to remember a time when they didn’t sell out the national stadium for a cup semi-final. Gers meet Motherwell at Mount Florida on Sunday for a spot in December’s Premier Sports Cup Final, where the winner will face either Aberdeen or Celtic for the season’s first trophy.
However, with only four days till the first game, there are still seats available in the Rangers’ end. Motherwell’s meagre allocation of roughly 7,500 seats in the East and South Stands allowed the Ibrox club to take up the majority of Hampden. In the past, Rangers fans would have filled the rest of the stadium by the thousands. While there will still be a large travelling crowd, an increasing number of fans are clearly dissatisfied with what they are seeing this season, with tickets already on general sale. And yesterday night’s awful defeat in Aberdeen-which Philippe Clement oddly labelled as one of the BEST efforts of the season – will have done nothing to improve the mood among an already enraged Ibrox support. In response to Rangers’ tweet touting general sale tickets for Sunday, one fan responded, “No thanks, I’d rather lift leaves in the garden than watch this pitifully awful lot.” Another said, “We couldn’t give them away after last night’s result.” This punter stated, “Don’t expect to sell much. “The team is so bad that people are losing interest.” A different person responded: “I don’t remember Rangers offering public sale of Cup semi-final tickets since the 1980s.”
