Leeds United have been connected with a move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien, which might determine whether or not they are promoted.
Former Leeds coach Carlos Corberan once described the player as “special” while the two were at Huddersfield Town in 2021 (Yorkshire Evening Post).
Leeds will not be the only club interested in O’Brien, who is presently on loan at LAFC in the MLS, with Corberan allegedly interested in a reunion at West Brom, according to TEAMtalk (30 October), but the Whites must do whatever it takes to secure his services.
Lewis O’Brien would boost promotion hopes for Leeds United
Daniel Farke’s side has had a terrific start to the season, but they are still five points behind league leaders Sunderland.
The January transfer window is barely two months away, and Leeds might take use of their pulling power to bring O’Brien to Elland Road. If they do, their prospects of advancement improve dramatically.
O’Brien is an excellent player. An even better one at Championship level, and if he joins Leeds United, he may become the club’s top midfielder.
With over 140 Championship matches, he understands what it takes to thrive in this division and has extensive experience in English football.
His most recent stay in England was with Middlesborough, where he played a key role in their 23/24 season, making 25 games and demonstrating his ability throughout.
While Leeds will surely be linked with several more players in the coming weeks, O’Brien is one who should pique interest as the team seeks promotion back to the Premier League.
