BBC NEWS. FC Twente’s delight after Harrie Kuster makes debut in Heracles Almelo thrashing.

Harrie Kuster, a 19-year-old midfielder, made an impressive start for FC Twente, defeating Heracles Almelo 5-0 on Sunday afternoon. The academy graduate took the field for the last six minutes and was hailed enthusiastically by the supporters in the Grolsch Veste.

Kuster’s entrance came after two of the three second-half goals (Mees Hilgers and Sam Lammers), after the hosts had convincingly defeated the Heraclieden in the first half courtesy to Feyenoord loanee Mimeirhal Benita’s hilarious own goal and Anass Salah-Addine’s score.

Kuster came in for Twente’s top man Sem Steijn, but he showed no symptoms of weakness as he contributed to the game’s fifth goal, which was scored by Michel Vlap in the closing minutes.

The debutant, who was born in Zwolle, grinned warmly as he took the field. The Twente supporters made themselves heard with every touch of the ball by the adolescent, chanting ‘All balls on Harrie’. Kuster expressed surprise at the overwhelming support from Twente fans, telling ESPN:

“I’ve been looking forward to today for a long time. I’ve gone through all of the preparations, and now I’m ready to make my debut. Yes, it is rather great. I guess I have a particular name. After the contest, they yelled my name again. That’s beautiful.”

Kuster relocated from Zwolle’s WVF to FC Twente’s youth program three years ago and has been training with the first squad this season. He continued:

“My ambition is to become a regular player in Twente’s first squad and eventually make a good move overseas. But first, I am going to appreciate this. My parents will be pleased too. I’ll hang the blouse in my chamber, over my bed.”

FC Twente captain Lars Unnerstall was not shocked by Kuster’s good influence on Sunday; he grinned.

“Harrie is a really good boy. He has been with us for a long time and is making excellent progress in training. “He truly deserves this.”
