Antonio Conte subs off Billy Gilmour, shouts in his face – But it’s all good for signing from Brighton
Having just picked up two points from their first nine games of 2024–25, Gary O’Neil’s team is still waiting to triumph in the top division.
But the West Midlands team has gained some momentum ahead of a pivotal matchup with Crystal Palace on Saturday night after a spectacular two-goal comeback to secure a draw at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Even though Wolves are currently in 19th place in the Premier League, they have scored a lot of goals. Indeed, they have scored in each of their last eight league games.
In stoppage time, the former Brighton substituted Michael Folorunsho, and as he did so, he and Conte had a conversation.
“Well done, what a match you played, top,” the Napoli manager shouted excitedly as he walked over to the midfield player and grinned.
As Gilmour was welcomed and cuddled by the crew at the final whistle, Conte was equally pleased with the player.
For the player, who had a rough start to his time with the team and had to play very little, that is a huge plus. He is beginning to perform well now that he is seeing consistent playing time.
Gilmour and Conte have a positive relationship that dates back to their Chelsea days, and it may be crucial to the future of this situation.
In Napoli, the Scotsman has witnessed it grow even more after enduring Roberto De Zerbi’s impassioned rants at Brighton.
