Sky Sport News: Lawrence Shankland reacts as Rangers transfer confirmed
Lawrence Shankland has messaged Liam Kelly after the new Rangers signing posted an Instagram message expressing his joy.
Kelly expressed excitement about signing with the Rangers in a recent post. I’ve spent half my life with this club, and it’s a great feeling to be here.”
In the comments area, Shankland responded quickly with two clapping emojis.
Kelly, who just returned from Euro 2024 after competing for Scotland, returns to Rangers after six years.
The 28-year-old joined the Gers when he was 10 years old and worked his way up through the academy until quitting in 2018.
Liam Kelly joins Rangers amid a hectic summer transfer window.
Despite preparation for the upcoming season, the Rangers face uncertainty behind the scenes. This difficult summer got off to a rocky start with the unexpected announcement of chief executive James Bisgrove’s departure as he travels to Saudi Arabia.
Add these losses to the likely departure of James Tavernier, as well as the departures of John Lundstram, Borna Barisic, Kemar Roofe, Ryan Jack, and Jon McLaughlin, and there is a palpable sense of change at Ibrox.
Shankland has been linked with a transfer to Ibrox, but it appears unlikely as he starts the season with Hearts (Chris Jack).
All of this raises major issues about the Rangers’ preparation for the next season. The club’s capacity to retain stability both on and off the field is seriously jeopardized, with key personnel departing and logistical concerns still to be handled.
The players will shortly return for the rigours of pre-season training, and Rangers must resolve these concerns quickly if they are to be better equipped for the Scottish Premiership.
