Nottingham Forest absentee noted in training session ahead of West Ham showdown

Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest are preparing to face West Ham United at the City Ground

Nottingham Forest fans were quick to notice a noteworthy absence from today’s open training session at the City Ground.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds are preparing for Saturday’s home game against West Ham United (3pm kick-off). Some fans have been able to observe from the stands as the players are put through their paces at Trentside this morning.
However, it appears that Morgan Gibbs-White was not part of the training group. Fans in attendance took to social media to say that they did not see the attacker participating in the drills with his colleagues, despite the fact that he was seen standing near the tunnel area on the sidelines.

Gibbs-White has missed Forest’s previous two games. He was suspended for the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, but an ankle injury would have kept him out of the game regardless.

The England international was taken off with 15 minutes remaining in the Reds’ 1-1 draw at Chelsea before the latest international break. He appeared to sustain the injury when he had a shot charged down in the second half of the game.
Gibbs-White then underwent scans and had to withdraw from the Three Lions squad for the October internationals. In addition to missing the Palace game, he did not play in last Friday night’s 3-1 victory over Leicester City.
“It is a day-by-day process, so let’s see how he is,” Nuno said of Gibbs-White in his pre-match press conference before facing the Foxes. “He is better today, so let’s hope he is even better tomorrow and keeps progressing.”
