Serie A President Lorenzo Casini has again discussed the weekend’s match between Bologna and AC Milan, as well as the potential for 3 PM derbies.

Discussions from the previous weekend may be both favourable and negative for Milan. From a negative standpoint, the Bologna scenario was irritating to say the least, and the Rossoneri were unable to play.

Positives may be drawn from the Derby D’Italia, though, as Juventus and Inter drew 4–4. This means that neither team improved their record against league leaders Napoli, who visit San Siro tomorrow, nor did they open a gap against the Diavolo.

It’s interesting to note that the Derby was held earlier, at 6 PM CEST, instead of Sunday night, which has sparked discussion regarding future division games. According to Calciomercato.com, Casini discussed the issue and the Bologna fiasco with Radio Anch’lo today.

“The match between Bologna and Milan is currently planned for February. Regarding the postponement, there was an order from the public authority that could not be ignored. We attempted to negotiate with the institutions to be able to play behind closed doors, but there was no way. As a result, we developed the concept of a neutral pitch, which is not covered by our standards.

“It would have been a significant innovation, but the available venues had significantly lower capacities than Bologna’s stadium. We strive to improve each time. One issue that has been addressed is the availability of an emergency neutral pitch, which was not originally planned. There are elements that must be considered.”
