An ex-Sunderland and Aston Villa player says of Régis Le Bris, “Different.”The strategies of Régis Le Bris have been compared to those of Sunderland’s former head coaches.
Since Régis Le Bris was hired as Sunderland’s head coach last summer, Kevin Phillips has shared what he has learned about him.
With the Black Cats leading the Championship going into this weekend’s matchup against Oxford United at the Stadium of Light, the Frenchman has been an enormous success so far. Sunderland had won eight games, lost two, and drawn one before that match.
However, Phillips, a former player for Sunderland, Aston Villa, and England, has talked extensively about Le Bris’ influence at the Academy of Light and what the former star striker has heard about the former Lorient manager’s tactics.”
Phillips remarked, “I’ve spent quite a bit of time up there this season,” when watching Sunderland’s match against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Sky. As you can expect, they have a strong passion for football up there, and given what Newcastle has accomplished in recent years, Sunderland needed something this season.
Everyone’s eyebrows were probably raised when the new manager was announced because nobody knew much about him, but I must admit that he has been a revelation ever since he joined the football team. It is supported by the performances. He differs greatly from their previous experience. His work is highly analytical. He is quite systematic. I’ve heard he’s not a ranter and raver.
He relaxes during training. He doesn’t participate in the training sessions on a daily basis. However, he gives the football team clarity. His messages are really straightforward for the players, and their play reflects that. They’re off to a great start. Did I ever witness their initial success? No, because they are the league’s youngest team and a very, very young one.
Young players who don’t feel the pressure have that. Every other week, they perform in front of a large crowd at the stadium. Additionally, they have improved. Well done. The season will be long, so don’t allow anyone get ahead of themselves. Yes, without a doubt,” Phillips said.
