BBC NEWS: FOOTBALL – Mark Robins praises Coventry City’s character after comeback win against Luton
MARK Robins lauded Coventry City’s character after the Sky Blues rallied from two goals behind to defeat Luton Town and move out of the relegation zone.
Haji Wright scored an injury-time victory for City at the Coventry Building Society Arena, following Ellis Simms and Victor Torp’s impressive second-half goals.
And Sky Blues coach Robins praised the home supporters for staying with the squad after going down two goals at halftime.
Robins stated, “We got in a number of times and created some really good chances; set pieces were really good and inventive, and we had a number of chances to take the lead, but then they scored both on their first and second chances, and we’re two-nil down.”
“We’re looking at the character to turn things around, and we discussed it at halftime, emphasizing the importance of the next goal.
“They were in the game, and we felt that because of our opportunities and possession, we had control of the game from there.
“The audience was tremendous. I requested for it, and I received it, so I’m quite pleased. You can see the rewards of sticking with the players, and I applaud them for it. It has been challenging, but it is only the first stage.
“We need to take more steps to gain more points and climb the league to get where we want to be.
“It’s been a difficult time for everyone, so I’d like to thank everyone, but let’s not get carried away.” We’ll enjoy it, but we’ve got three tough games coming up.”
Coventry will face Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday, November 2, with kickoff at 3pm.
