‘Welcome’ – PL defender sends message to new Leeds signing after Elland Road transfer

Maxence Lacroix, Crystal Palace’s defender, has issued a new message to Josuha Guilavogui following his move to Leeds United.

On Wednesday (23 October), Daniel Farke’s team confirmed the signing of the former Mainz player on a contract until the end of the season, after both Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev were ruled out due to injury.

While the news has been favourably greeted by Whites fans, Lacroix was quick to “welcome” the Frenchman to English football after playing alongside him at Wolfsburg.

On Wednesday (23 October), the Palace defender posted a snapshot of Guilavogui in Leeds colours on his Instagram account, captioned “Bienvenue et bon courage grand frere,” which translates as “Welcome and good luck, big brother.”

Why did Leeds United complete the Josuha Guilavogui trade at Elland Road?

Several high-profile athletes have messaged and congratulated Guilavogui following his move to Elland Road, indicating that the midfielder is well-liked among his former teammates.

While Farke and his recruitment team’s first priority this summer was finding a player capable of filling the shoes of Ampadu and Gruev, it is as crucial that they find the correct character for this changing room.

Although Farke’s team has some huge names, there appears to be a sense of solidarity among the players, with everyone prepared to battle for one other. Leeds United couldn’t risk disrupting the chemistry by signing the wrong free agent.

Hopefully, Guilavogui will be able to provide a new dimension to the side of the park.

Although Joe Rothwell and Ethan Ampadu have impressed this season, they might benefit from extra depth.

The Championship season is long and arduous, and Leeds should not expect to compete for automatic promotion with only two first-team alternatives.
