Hisense player of the Match: Watford (H)

Leeds United vs. Watford ratings: Manor Solomon provides little, Dan James blows up off the bench

With a 2-1 victory over Watford that appeared to be easy but turned out to be difficult as the game progressed, Leeds United took the lead in the Championship.

Largie Ramazani’s speculative fourth-minute attempt was mishandled over the line by Daniel Bachmann, giving the Whites the ideal start. Three minutes later, Brenden Aaronson added a second goal when Bachmann made another mistake by parrying a deflected cross directly at the American.

Despite being a complete spectator for almost forty minutes, he was prepared to make a save when Watford returned to the game. However, he was much less convincing in the center of the throng for the next two corners. When he touched Baah’s cross, it was merely deflected onto Rodon, who then returned it to the German for a simple finish.kept a Tom Ince free kick out in the hour by making a crucial near-post save.

Jayden Bogle: 7

He got off to a good start, starting to resemble the player he was meant to be and building a strong rapport with Gnonto down the right. appeared more confident on defense while the Whites were ahead, but they gave up a risky opportunity shortly after the home team was pinned back.In the second half, he blasted over one great cross and struck the post, making him much more successful going forward.

Joe Rodon: 6

Between the two early Leeds United goals, they played a crucial challenge and were generally strong in defense.Watford got one back, but there was little he could do to stop the rebound from him.

Pascal Struijk

Pascal Struijk – 5

Largely decent but one extremely poor moment was punished. Lovely long pass freed Firpo down the left in the build up to the opener and looked imperious until he was crunched by Festy EboseleDismal role in Baah’s goal immediately after the break as he let the attacker waltz round him and into the box from the left.

Junior Firpo – 5

Decent first half but fell apart after the break. Up high early and often as he played a key role in the move that put the Whites ahead and a first-half header went close to scoring from a corner for the second game in successionBut he was out of position as a result for the Baah goal but Struijk should still never have let the Watford man past him so easilybefore a lazy pull-back just inside an hour got him booked and suspended for the next game. Far too sloppy after that.

Ao Tanaka – 7

All-action display under far more pressure than last time out but held his own. Developing defensively with every game but still not quite perfect. Tracked men deep into his own half on a number of occasions and wasn’t afraid to throw himself into challenges, even if his tackling technique still needs some workTidy on the ball as usual.

Joe Rothwell – 6

Another largely solid performance in the middle if not as assured as the win over the Blades on Friday as he was caught in possession a couple of times. Quiet as the momentum swung after the break.

Brendan Aaronson nets winner from Daniel Bachmann error

Willy Gnonto (off for James ’72) – 7

Excellent first 45 that fell off in a big way after the interval. Inches from doubling the lead immediately after the opener and his deflected cross bamboozled Bachman for Aaronson’s goalHad Watford defenders on the back foot and went close again on half an hour. Faded significantly after the break and scuffed at a dangerous rebound after Bogle hit the post.

Brenden Aaronson – 7

Good game overall and took his chance this time. Great start as he seized on a loose ball in midfield to surge forward and set Gnonto up for a dangerous attempt, and then slotted home just after as the Whites turned the screw earlyHis energy was useful as the game became more attritional.

Largie Ramazani (off for Solomon ’13) – 7

Eventful early cameo where he looked sharp, scored fortuitously, and then went off hurt after a challenge down the left flank. His goal got Leeds United off to a blistering start, not that he would have expected the shot to be successful. Clattered minutes later and left in pain to give Daniel Farke another injury concern.

Joel Piroe (off for Joseph ’72) – 6

Frustrating night. Much more involved than he was in the Sheffield United victory and pretty good with his all-round work and combination play. But let himself down in front of goal as he squandered the best opportunities. His heavy touch let him down when played in by Gnonto in the first half, and could only pass a tame effort straight at Bachman when an inviting chance fell to him in the second.

Substitutions

Manor Solomon (off for Byram ’96) (on for Ramazani ’14) – 4

For a Premier League talent, this is disappointing. Leeds United missed Ramazani’s dynamism, so the Tottenham loanee put out decent effort but had little effect for more than an hour.a few late attempts that weren’t particularly dangerous.Despite playing the most minutes, all three of the other wide players did better.

On for Gnonto ’72, Dan James – 8

Outstanding impact coming off the bench, as he was instrumental in setting up three significant opportunities. Two dangerous crosses followed Bogle’s excellent through-ball, the second of which was a beauty with the outside of his foot that Joseph had to score but failed to do so.Soon after his arrival, he put pressure on the visitors to finish the win with a final effort of his own.If Ramazani is late, it will undoubtedly begin.

Mateo Joseph (who replaced Piroe in 1972) – 5

squandered a fantastic opportunity as James crossed the ball to head Bachman without opposition when either team may have won the match.

Sam Byram, who replaced Solomon in 1996, – 6

Following the Elland Road update, Isaac Schmidt is expected to make his Leeds United debut against Bristol City.

After Junior Firpo was suspended, Daniel Farke had to start Isaac Schmidt for Leeds United for the first time against Bristol City.

The Dominican Republic international will not be able to play against the Robins at Ashton Gate after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season in the 59th minute of the Whites’ 2-1 victory over Watford on October 22.

Farke will then have to decide who will start at left-back on Saturday, October 26, as Schmidt and Sam Byram are both vying to take Firpo’s place.

Farke has frequently used Byram to replace Firpo off the bench thus far this season, but Schmidt hasn’t been given many opportunities since moving from St. Gallen, so it’s time for him to start.
