Burnley FC issues stark warning to would-be thieves following attempted break-ins

After a break-in at Turf Moor, CCTV has identified two young people.

The pair broke down the window of a club shop on Friday night in an effort to get inside. Security disturbed them, so they fled. There is an investigation going on.

On Sunday morning, security was also notified of another attempted break-in at the club. A little distance from the business, a man in his 20s was discovered by the responding police with a severe cut to his skull. Shortly after being brought to the hospital for treatment, he was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Ryan Williams, a 23-year-old man without a fixed residence, was charged with and found guilty of burglary and attempted burglary. He has been remanded to Blackburn Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on Friday, November 8.

“Incidents like this not only harm the club but also our loyal supporters and are always dealt with swiftly and effectively,” Burnley Football Club Director of Operations Doug Metcalfe has warned.

“We have full CCTV coverage throughout the stadium and staff on site at Turf Moor at all times, so we have round-the-clock security.”

“To ensure that those responsible are held accountable, we are collaborating closely with the authorities.”
