Teenage Sheffield Wednesday duo given massive Owls chance despite huge age gap.
Despite the fact that Caelan Cadamarteri and Will Grainger are still in their early teens, they have been playing at a level above their age group for some time. Despite just being 14 and 15 years old, respectively, both have stepped up and scored for the U18s, while Grainger has been offered the opportunity to advance even further after competing at the U21 level.
The two young players are reportedly given the chance to demonstrate their abilities to Danny Röhl, the manager of the first team, while working with the senior players at Middlewood Road, as the club looks to maximise their growth. Although the two play youth international football for Wales and Scotland, nothing they have done before will have prepared them for working with players twice their age.
Since joining the team a year ago, Röhl has shown a strong interest in the S6 youth setup. Several players from the U21s and U18s have had the opportunity to train with the seniors at various points, and Cadamarteri and Grainger, who have both been offered early scholarship terms for when they turn 16, will see their opportunity as a reward for how well they have handled life among the U18s.
In an effort to keep the team as fresh as possible during a very busy stretch of games, the manager will undoubtedly be looking to rotate things come Tuesday evening. Wednesday is currently getting ready for their Tuesday night match against Swansea City as they return to action at Hillsborough for a quick turnaround after losing to Burnley on Saturday.
