‘He’s available’ – Rare Leeds United injury boost emerges regarding 20-year-old star

Despite worries over a shoulder injury, Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has announced Wilfried Gnonto is healthy to play against Watford.

Supporters of Leeds United have come to dread hearing about any new injuries.

Given the lack of depth they had at the close of the summer transfer window, the Whites can only blame themselves

for their difficult start to the season in terms of fitness.

Due to knee injuries sustained by Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu, only summer acquisitions Joe Rothwell and Ao

Tanaka are available as senior central midfielders. Daniel Farke has only Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk available to

him at center back, along with Max Wober.

Because of this, there were worries that Leeds United would lose another important player when star attacker

Wilfried Gnonto persevered despite a shoulder injury.

Farke has nevertheless stated that the Italian is ready and able to play against the Hornets.

When Gnonto first took the hit against Sheffield United, the German acknowledged (as cited by the Yorkshire

Evening Post) that he was “very close” to coming off. However, scans have just revealed a bruise, therefore he will be

prepared to take on Tom Cleverley’s team.

“I was a bit nervous after the game but we scanned it and thankfully it’s just a bruise so he’s available.”

Fit and ready to go

With Gnonto deemed fit enough to be in contention for the Watford clash, it will be expected that the 20-year-old retains his place in the Leeds United starting XI on Tuesday night.

The forward has been a standout player for Farke at this early stage of the season. Operating almost entirely on the right-wing, he has two goals and four assists to his name in 10 Championship games.

Following his summer exit, Gnonto hopes to assume the mantle left by Crysencio Summerville, and he’s off to a strong start in his attempt to do so.

Farke and his Leeds United team have a good challenge in the match against Watford.

Although the Hornets have played well and won numerous close games against strong teams, their road results haven’t been as favorable. It implies that the Whites will be favorites to secure yet another significant victory.

Watford has dropped its last four away Championship games. Leeds had won three of the previous four games, including the past two, at Elland Road, where they will play.
