Asking for advice, Erik?! Phil Parkinson spotted deep in conversation with Man Utd boss Ten Hag as Wrexham boss is honoured at FWA Northern Managers’ Awards dinner
In a tight spot While they were collecting trophies on Sunday, Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, and Phil Parkinson, the coach of Wrexham, had a lengthy talk.
After leading United to victory over fierce rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup last season, Ten Hag was recognised with a trophy at the Football Writers Association (FWA) Northern Managers Awards. Parkinson received recognition during the banquet for motivating Wrexham to become the Red Dragons’ second consecutive League One team.
Parkinson, who was also rejoicing after Paul Mullin had led his team to a 1-0 victory against Rotherham, was seated next to Ten Hag, who had celebrated a much-needed victory over Brentford the day before the awards presentation.And during the dinner, it was evident that the two bosses were having a meaningful talk.
WHAT TEN HAG SAID
“I can say as I have some experience, it’s not so easy to win titles, all the levels in English football are very competitive, to win a title demands huge sacrifice, sacrifice with your family but also sacrifice to get the team doing what you want,” Ten Hag stated in his address. It’s not only you who does this. Good players are essential; without them, any manager would be inadequate. We did an amazing job to win this FA Cup, so thanks also to my coaches. Players can’t do it without coaching.”
