Watford have lost four of their five away matches this season
Tom Cleverley will hold an inquest with his Watford coaching staff as they try to overcome their travel sickness ahead of the trip to Elland
Road.
The Hornets face Leeds United on Tuesday, having lost four of their five games away from Vicarage Road this season. They were defeated
3-0 by arch rivals Luton Town today.
Watford fans were quick to express their feelings about their players’ performance, with Jordan Clark, Carlton Morris, and Jacob Brown
scoring in a simple Luton win.
“It doesn’t take a genius to see that it was a very disappointing performance,” Watford manager Cleverley admitted. “You know what
you’re going to get when you come here and that is good channel balls and strong channel runs, competing, winning set-pieces, balls
coming in your box.”We didn’t respond well enough to that challenge at first, and then we failed to commit to our own identity, which is to
get on the ball, play through the lines, and get the ball wide and into the box. So falling short in both areas resulted in a very bad afternoon
for us.
“There will be an inquest into what we can do as a coaching staff to make the players realise, but for me, it is an away form issue that we
must address.” We are flat away from home, we are not committed to trying to play football, and we are simply not standing up to the
struggles well enough.
“So that will result in some shaky performances and it’s absolutely my responsibility to make sure the team looks like it has an identity
away from home and can start picking up results.”
