Spurs are one of the fairest teams in Premier League history, and the stats prove it
Spurs supporters will be relieved to see their team near the bottom of a league table for once after a study into the history of the Premier League revealed which teams have historically been the dirtiest to compete in the English top division.
Tottenham’s Fair Play statistics
Spurs are not exactly a team that is associated with the so-called black arts, and you are likely to find very few football fans who would name them as one of the dirtiest teams.
However, the research done by FlashScore at last establishes Tottenham’s equality as a team. The Premier League era’s list of teams with the fewest fouls committed per game is really just three lower than theirs.
Worst of the bunch
With an average of 13.72 fouls committed in 418 Premier League games, Blackburn Rovers leads the dirty play table.
They are far ahead of the pack, with Middlesbrough and Bolton coming in second and third, respectively, at 12.83 and 12.88 fouls per game.
Aston Villa is now the highest-ranked Premier League team according to this data, having committed 12.23 fouls per game in its 798 top-flight games.
Everybody loves Spurs
This is simply another reason why Tottenham’s supporters—aside from those in London—will always regard and admire the team. We are a great team to watch, we play the game the right way, and we’ve never really sought to breach the law or use dubious tactics on the pitch.
