Liam Fox land ‘invaluable’ Hearts praise as Neil Critchley makes permanent backroom move.

A permanent addition has been made to the new Hearts coaching roster. Liam Fox has been designated a permanent member of the Hearts first-team coaching staff. The former Dundee United manager and well-known coach in Scottish football has taken charge of the club’s Lowland League ‘B’ team. He came in as interim manager prior to Neil Critchley’s appointment as head coach this week, guiding the club to an opening Conference League victory over Dinamo Minsk.

Fox also oversaw Premiership matches against Ross County and Aberdeen. He is now a permanent member of the senior backroom staff until the summer of 2027, which is the same duration of contract as Critchley and assistant Mike Garrity. Speaking on the appointment, the boyhood Hearts fan expressed his pride. He remarked, “First and foremost, I’d like to thank Neil, Mike, and the club for this opportunity. I’ve really loved working with them this week, and as a Hearts supporter, I’m grateful to be given such a responsibility.

“It’s been a difficult start to the season for the club, but during my time in interim charge, the players gave me absolutely everything and I’m sure it’ll be the same for Neil and Mike starting against St Mirren on Saturday.” Critchley added, “I’m happy that Liam has decided to join the first-team coaching staff. In the short time I’ve been at the club, his experience and knowledge of not only the players, but the football club as a whole, has been priceless. “Liam has a lot to offer as a coach and I’m very much looking forward to continuing to work with him.”
