After a goalless first half, Leeds increased their speed in the second. Pascal Struijk broke the tie in the 69th minute, and Mateo Joseph clinched the game with a late goal in the 90th, gaining all three points. The Yorkshire side must regroup swiftly when they face Watford on Tuesday night, following the latter’s Saturday defeat to Luton Town. As the competition heats up, the Whites are looking for their second straight win to keep their second-place lead.

Watford enters the Leeds meeting with road performance concerns.

Tom Cleverley intends to meet with his Watford coaching staff before their forthcoming trip to Elland Road to discuss the team’s road issues. The Hornets will face Leeds United on Tuesday, and they’ve struggled away from Vicarage Road this season, losing four of their five games. Today, they were defeated 3-0 by their arch-rivals, Luton Town. “It doesn’t take a genius to see that it was a very disappointing performance,” Cleverley stated (via Leeds Live). “You know what to expect when you come here: good channel balls and powerful channel runs, competition, winning set-pieces, and balls in your box.

“We didn’t respond well enough to that challenge at first, and then we failed to commit to our own identity, which is to get on the ball, play through the lines, and get the ball wide and into the box. So falling short in both areas resulted in a very bad afternoon for us. “There will be an inquest into what we can do as a coaching staff to make the players realise, but for me, it is an away form issue that we must address.” We are flat away from home, we have not committed to trying to play football, and we are just not standing up to the struggles well enough.

“So that will result in some shaky performances and it’s absolutely my responsibility to make sure the team looks like it has an identity away from home and can start picking up results.”
