Daniel Farke, the manager of Leeds United, essentially stated that the team plans to recruit a free agent in the upcoming weeks, and it appears that the player’s identity has been made public.
When the transfer market closed at the end of August, Leeds appeared to be in a strong position, with most sections of the team fully covered.
But a midfield injury crisis has kept Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev out until the New Year, and Daniel Farke’s problems have gotten worse over the past month due to Max Wöber’s surgery.

Before Friday’s game against Sheffield United, Farke was questioned about the potential of adding experience and cover to both the midfield and center-back positions. He may only be able to do so by signing a free agent.
“It’s crucial to avoid discussing names, but the profile matters.” We don’t have many options for holding midfield. Our first option was Ethan, with Ilia as a backup. Additionally, we need depth at center back. Max Wöber is a little ahead of schedule, although he is out and hasn’t really been available since returning in the summer. Remember that Joe Rodon has received four yellow cards, and Pascal [Struijk] has a history of injuries on his resume.
“In a perfect world, we’d bring in a deep-lying midfielder who could also play center back, but he has to accept a role where our center backs and Ethan, our key man, return. He would step in to provide support, share his knowledge, and instruct and mentor our younger players. We need a player with experience and this mindset if a young player is finding it difficult to handle the strain of playing for a team like Leeds United. Although it’s not simple, we have some ideas, and I’m cautiously optimistic that we’ll have an opportunity to present a workable solution in the next two weeks or days.
