Celtic Held At Home To Aberdeen With Frustrating Second Half Performance

After a swift Hoops counterattack, Kyogo Furuhashi cut back, and Reo Hate opened the score with a well-placed strike inside the Aberdeen box in the 24th minute.

A Hate attempt was diverted in Kyogo’s direction, and three minutes later, Kyogo doubled the Bhoys’ advantage with a left-footed missile that found the bottom right corner.

But Aberdeen settled into the game and started to put pressure on Celtic as the second half went on.

In the 50th minute, Aberdeen’s Ester Sokler launched the Dons’ comeback.

Sokler found himself one on one with Kasper Schmeichel after Jamie McGrath’s deft through pass, and he placed the ball into the bottom left corner, giving Celtic Schmeichel little chance.

With a left-footed effort from outside the box that bounced off Auston Trusty and past Kasper Schmeichel in the 60th minute, Graeme Shinnie gave the Dons a 2-2 draw.

Despite multiple chances to retake the lead, Celtic struggled to establish a rhythm in the second half.

But the drama didn’t stop there.

Aberdeen believed they had grabbed the lead a minute later when Slobodan Rubezic’s header hit Duk’s arm en route to the goal, but VAR rejected it for handball.

Celtic gave the Aberdeen defense their all in the closing minutes of the match.

Alistair Johnston’s dubious goal of pushing Mitov into the net during a hectic finale was disallowed, although Adam Idah’s goal was disallowed.

Paulo Bernardo and Luke McCowan both came dangerously close to turning in a cross that flashed across the face of goal as Celtic kept applying pressure.

The ball was kept out thanks in large part to Dimitar Mitov’s touch.

Luke McCowan was tripped on the edge of the box in the 90+10 minute, but the referee’s huge call denied Celtic a penalty.

Instead, Celtic was given a free kick, which gave them a great chance to win at the final second.

Mitov made a point-blank save to stop a Celtic header as the game was about to end.

The match ended frantically and tensely when Duk blocked a rebound half-volley that was on the line.
