Assistant boss Yetton praises players after Truro City victory.

Yetton responded: “We were good value for the victory”

By Gareth Davies.

Stewart Yetton, Truro City’s assistant manager, believes his team was ‘excellent value’ for their win over National League South leaders Hemel Hempstead Town on Saturday. In windy conditions at Truro City Stadium, as the home team celebrated their 135th anniversary, Jaze Kabia’s 13th-minute strike after a Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain long throw proved to be the difference between the two sides. Bobby Wilkinson’s Tudors gave up their perfect record this season with a timid capitulation, firing only one shot in anger throughout the afternoon.

“It was an absolutely fantastic victory for us,” Yetton told trurocity.co.uk. “Hemel arrived here tonight in excellent form, having not lost a game all season. They hadn’t conceded a goal away from home, so we expected a tough encounter. “Bobby gets his teams well organised, so we are thrilled to come away with three points. “It was very tough conditions for both sides, but on the balance of play, we were good value for the victory.”

Yetton continued, “We scored in the first half and had a few of chances that we should have taken. “We expected a bit of an onslaught, and while Hemel applied some pressure at times, I believe Dan (Lavercombe) only had a couple of long shots to save.” “I thought all of the back three defended really well – Tom (Harrison), Sam (Sanders), and Christian (Oxlade-Chamberlain) were all fantastic with their heading, clearing, and communication.”

“That was really pleasing and perhaps we did do more than Hemel when the conditions were favourable.” The result moves City up to sixth in the table, extending the club’s good start to life in the Duchy and under new manager John Askey.
