Pundit makes baffling claim about Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough stadium, he’s a Peterborough United fan

The newest analysis of Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough stadium by talkSPORT analyst Adrian Durham may not

sit well with the team’s supporters.

Hillsborough has been home to Sheffield Wednesday for over a century.

With a capacity of little under 40,000, it is the second-biggest stadium in the EFL and the 18th-biggest sports arena

in the UK. It is an iconic venue for English football.

The Owls’ managers, Danny Rohl included, have historically depended on their home court to win games.

Sheffield Wednesday finished 17th in the home form chart the previous season, earning 31 points at Hillsborough as

opposed to 22 points away, which put them in 20th place in the away form table.

There’s often been some chatter on social media about the current state of Hillsborough, with many suggesting that

owner Dejphon Chansiri needs to make some vital refurbishments to the general look of the stadium.

Adrian Durham ranks Hillsborough as the worst stadium in the Championship

Now, Adrian Durham, a TalkSPORT analyst, has stated something audacious and a little perplexing regarding

Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough stadium.

He ranks Hillsborough as the least desirable championship ground.

Durham writes, “A lot of it is very dated and badly needs upgrading,” in a piece for talkSPORT.

“The fact that a particular team blew a 4-0 lead in the play-off semifinals there may have contributed to the low

ranking.”

Durham, who was raised in Peterborough, is a passionate supporter of the Posh, citing the League One play-off

semifinal between Sheffield Wednesday and Peterborough United in 2022–2023.

The Owls under Darren Moore lost the first leg at Peterborough 4-0, then winning the second leg at Hillsborough 5-1

on their way to promotion via the play-offs.

What’s been said about upgrades to Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough stadium

It’s surprising how little has been discussed about possible improvements to Hillsborough throughout Chansiri’s ten-

year tenure with the team.

More stories surfaced over the summer about the training ground’s renovations, which Rohl wished to see carried out.

Before Chansiri considers making changes at Hillsborough, he seems to think that the team must win the Premier

League.

Much of the stadium is old and in need of renovation, as Durham points out. However, when it’s packed,

Hillsborough is still one of the most thrilling football stadiums in England.

It seems a little unjust to rate it as the poorest squad in the championship.
