“Most Watford season ticket holders would agree with me” – Ticket prices at Vicarage Road debated

Watford have made a promising start to the 2024/25 season.

They are currently barely inside the play-off places, providing some early answers to questions about Tom Cleverley’s performance in his

first full season as Watford manager.

Another major subject moving into the new season, like with many clubs, was ticket costs and how much it will cost dedicated supporters

to support their team for the following season.

To gain the perspective of fans on the ground, we questioned FLW’s Watford Fan Pundit Justin Beattie about the cost.

Watford season ticket holder hails “fair” ticket prices

The Watford fan believes that, in general, the amount paid to see the Hornets is reasonable.

Speaking to Football League World, Justin stated: “As a season ticket holder, I believe what I pay represents fair value for money in terms

of price-per-match when broken down.

“There hasn’t been a price hike for season tickets in quite some time.

“And on the whole, I think most Watford season ticket holders would agree with me and say that our prices are fair and the club are fair in

not increasing prices year on year.”

Watford ticket prices in 2024/25

Watford announced their season ticket pricing for this season in March of this year, and they decided to keep them the same as the previous season.

The lowest adult season ticket, at early renewal fees, cost £402. That implies that over the course of 23 home league games at Vicarage Road, fans like Justin will spend just over £17 each.

Adult tickets for a single Watford game start at £30, as seen in Watford’s Championship game versus Blackburn, so the season ticket appears to be good value from that perspective.

It’s not a cheap afternoon out when you add in travel, food, and other expenses, but given the plight of other supporters in the second tier, it might be much worse.

How Watford’s season ticket prices compare to the rest of the Championship

According to BirminghamWorld, Watford has the 13th cheapest adult season ticket in the Championship for the 2024/25 season.

Coventry City has the cheapest offering, with fans able to acquire a season’s worth of action for just £250.

Across the season, that boils down to less than £11 per game, so you won’t find any supporters at the CBS Arena complaining about the price, regardless of where they finish in the league.

Middlesbrough sits at the opposite end of the scale, with their cheapest season ticket package costing a whopping £574.

That number, more than treble the price of Coventry, equates to about £25 per game. Michael Carrick will likely face a challenge in keeping Boro fans pleased.

Sitting in the center of this league table, with a strong start to the season, it’s understandable that supporters like Justin are content with the current price.
