Former Leeds United and Sheffield United target becomes free agent as ex-Barnsley man has contract terminated

Former Barnsley winger Ryan Kent has joined the free agent market after seeing his Fenerbahce contract terminated.

After his contract with Rangers expired last year, the 27-year-old sought new pastures in Turkey. He has been connected with several English clubs, including Leeds United and Sheffield United, but opted to transfer abroad.
It did not work out for the former Liverpool prospect, and his contract was terminated by mutual consent after just over a year.

He is now available to clubs that have enough roster space to sign him on a free transfer.

Kent’s name has become synonymous with transfer windows at Elland Road, as Leeds have been connected with him for many years.

He was first mentioned as a target for the Whites under the reign of Marcelo Bielsa, who was said to be a fan of the wideman.

Reports of interest persisted over time, but a return to Yorkshire did not occur. His sole tenure in the county came with Barnsley, who signed the winger on loan from Liverpool for the 2016/17 season.

He appeared 47 times with the Reds, scoring three goals and adding three assists.
