Sunderland pair may have played their last game for the club as Regis Le Bris demand emerges

We may have already seen the last of two Sunderland players, with Regis Le Bris reportedly having big plans for January.

Sunderland’s January transfer window might be season-defining, with the Black Cats emerging as title contenders under Regis Le Bris.
The Frenchman has Sunderland in first place in the Championship table after nine games.

The Black Cats’ form has dipped slightly in recent weeks, with two wins, one tie, and two losses between the September and October international breaks.

Sunderland’s last game was a 2-2 draw with Leeds United at the Stadium of Light, courtesy to a last-minute error by Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

January might be a critical refueling period for the Black Cats, who may have one or two trouble spots in the New Year.

But if Le Bris wants fresh additions, he may need Kristjaan Speakman to unload a few more to make room in the first-team squad.

Regis Le Bris demand could spell the end for exiled Sunderland duo

According to Football Insider, Le Bris has told the Sunderland leadership that he expects to be properly supported throughout the January transfer window.
Le Bris wants his side to be automatic promotion candidates throughout the season, thus he wants some new faces in January.

And, while Sunderland, under Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, aren’t hesitant to invest in their squad and take chances on inexperienced players, there’s a feeling of direction.

Speakman will not want an inflated Sunderland squad, and with limited resources, a few player sales in January may be required to fund player purchases.

Adil Aouchiche and Abdoullah Ba are undoubtedly the first names that come to mind for Le Bris and Speakman.

What’s going on with Adil Aouchiche and Abdoullah Ba at Sunderland?

This season, French duo Aouchiche and Abdoullah Ba have combined for just one Championship appearance.

Le Bris says that they are still in his plans, but they will have to fight hard to earn a spot in the Championship this season.

It was also stated that Aouchiche and Ba may have left Sunderland in the summer, with Aouchiche apparently dissatisfied with the club.

With neither able to play, despite Ba being put on the bench for the last three Championship games, it appears that they will be the two players moving on in January to create room for new arrivals.

And it appears plausible, or at least possible that neither will play for the Black Cats again.
